Start of year 5: Michael’s dad is looking frightfully unwell.
He’s spent a lot of time with some of the leftover Shadow Pokémon that somehow managed to slip through Wes’s cracks (where did Wes and Rui go, anyway?), and one of the Poison-types bit him. He took an antidote and claimed he was fine, but he sure didn’t look like it. Hasn’t stopped him from continuing to work on the Purify Chambers or still being a good husband and father after his wife and their two kids joined us a couple months ago, one of which was a baby.
I thought the shadow part of Shadow Pokémon was just the condition of having a closed heart. It couldn’t be that there was some other factor… I wish I knew more, but I’m a technician, not a biologist. I know where this is going, but that doesn’t mean I like it.
