Year 1, day 143: The amount of time it takes for the canon plot to kick in after arriving in a world is highly variable. Pokémon Coliseum started after 55 days – about two months.Mystery Dungeon started immediately, as I had dropped into the role of player character. Banjo-Kazooie started after three years. Wind Waker started after one year.
EarthBound’s plot started last night. When I woke up from the sound of a massive impact and looked out my window to see smoke coming from the massive hill to the north.
All of us had woken up and gathered outside to watch the smoke plume, and then eventually the short ray of light that came from it. We knew what it meant, and were thankful we managed to finish fixing the house up in time. Preparations would have to be made.
And then a Starman Junior materialized in my yard.
“Robert. My master, Gigyas, has sensed your potential as a threat. Prepare to be elim-”
He probably would’ve finished his sentence if the ground beneath him didn’t explode.
Or he wasn’t blasted in the face with a pulse of water. Or a ball of energized mist. Or a blade of solidified air. All at the same time.
Or if after that he wasn’t turned into a swordfish and beaten to death with a minor league-quality baseball bat while he was disoriented.
We opted to dispose of it in the ocean instead of cooking it for dinner, just in case being an alien previously made it toxic.
Preparations are going to have to be a lot more “made” than originally anticipated.
Year 1, day 148: A dog got the jump on Terra and bit her today while she was out shopping. I went to help her when she got home and, before I knew it, I had emitted a flash of light that washed her wound away.
Seems my hypothesis was correct. I have psychic powers now. And apparently I’m involved in the prophecy by the Apple of Enlightenment now, if Gigyas tried to take me out.
Which makes no damn sense. Aside Mystery Dungeon, I never had any history in the worlds I’ve been dropped into. I was just made to exist in this world that – I hope – existed before I arrived there, and would continue to go on without me afterwards if that time stop thing wasn’t there.
What did I know about the Apple of Enlightenment…? It was a machine that predicted that Ness would defeat Gigyas. Because of this, he sent his troops into the past- The Apple was in the future. Perhaps it would know what I did during my time here? But wait, I shouldn’t have existed in the original timeline, or wait, was there an original timeline in the first place-
I’m going to go lie down until my head stops hurting.
